PET - BREAST CANCER
71-year-old female with suspected breast abnormality.Histology from breast biopsy
indicated fibroadenoma. Patient referred to PET to examine possible brain lesion
seen on MR, but not clearly identified as an area of ischemia.FDG brain scan found
low glucose uptake in brain lesion. However, whole-body PET scan (same FDG injection)
found a focus of uptake in left breast along with numerous lung lesions.Second
breast biopsy after PET found infiltrating columnar cell carcinoma. Final diagnosis
was breast cancer with lung metastases, along with brain ischemia.
